Turning The World On Its Head

For a full year, the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMΣT) in Athens is presenting a cycle of exhibitions dedicated exclusively to women artists or those identifying as female, under the title “What If Women Ruled The World?” Curated by EMΣT’s artistic director Kat- erina Gregos, this is a deliberate challenge to entrenched patriarchal paradigms, aiming to reexamine the role of women both in art and so- ciety. Inspired by Yael Bartana’s 2017 neon artwork of the same name that adorns the museum’s façade, each piece offers a unique perspective on the potentialities and challenges of female governance, from explorations of identity and representation to critiques of systematic injustice.
